CentOS Linux 8.1 Released
CentOS community has announced a new release based on the source code of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.1. CentOS is a Linux Distribution that provides a free, community-supported computing platform functionally compatible with RHEL. Thus where RedHat gives paid support service, CentOS being compatible with it is driven by community support.
Major CHanges Include:
- kernel live patching
- a new routing protocol stack called FRR
- an extended version of the Berkeley Packet Filter (eBPF) to help sysadmins troubleshoot complex network issues
- support for re-encrypting block devices in LUKS2
- a new tool for generating SELinux policies for containers called udica.
- updated packages as per RHEL
CentOS Linux 8.1 (1911) installation images are available for download from here. For Existing users, the update is available through the system itself.
