it’s not like Qualcomm is slacking off, they already have 5G sperate modem from SD855, X55 modem in SD865 (Again not integrated but compulsorily bundled) manufactured on 7nm technology. But they are not resting and continuing their leadership in 5G space and have announced the third generation of its modem 5G called X60.
Qualcomm 3rg gen 5G ecosystem has 3 components

Modem: The star of the show, the modem is now manufactured at TSMC’s leading 5nm fabrication tech making it the world’s first 5G modem at 5nm. This also supports carrier aggregation with mmWave and Sub 6Ghz Band. The regular aggregation between Sub-6 GHz bands in FDD/TDD is also supported.
The modem can speed upto 7.5 Gbps download and 3 Gbps upload.
mmWave Antenna Module: The QTM535 antenna module boast narrower design and improved mmWave performance. The new module can support 26 GHz, 28 GHz, and 39 GHz. The thinner design will enable thinner and narrower phone design.
RF Front End: The RF module completes the integration package for Qualcomm’s X60 modem. Even though a separate RF module is supported, the vendors generally get the whole package. This tight integration also helps in power saving.
