India announces two Super Computers, More to come
In order to aid India to research in various discipline, 2 new supercomputers are announced under National Supercomputing Mission.
Named as Param-Shivay, the Supercomputer is capable of peak computing power of 837 Teraflop. The target is to set up over 60 high performance computers in the country by 2022.
Even though these are designed in India as per “Made in India” initiative, they still don’t feature the indigenously designed RISC V based CPUs called “Shakti”.
The Supercomputers would help improve weather services, disaster management, ensure faster processing of data, support computational biology, flood control and aid research in various disciplines.
