Ubuntu Touch Installer adds support for OnePlus 3 and Xperia X
Canonical created sensation when they announced the world’s biggest crowd-funded campaign to make Ubuntu Phone. Although the campaign failed to meet the target, Canonical went ahead and worked on Ubuntu Touch phone as an Open Source alternative to iOS and Android. Even that project met with failure and the project was later on scrapped.
However, all hope is not lost as community has picked up the development of Ubuntu Touch OS and is providing updates to not only official devices but adding support to other devices.
The installation of Ubuntu Touch OS has been trivial with command line installation, but there is an easier method to install Ubuntu Touch images. The graphical installer now supports OnePlus 3 and Sony Xperia X.
Ubuntu touch is also being ported to Linux friendly mobile phones like PinePhone and the results are great.
The Ubuntu Touch installer now supports all the officially supported Ubuntu Phone devices, including the BQ Aquaris E4.5, BQ Aquaris E5 HD, BQ Aquaris M10 HD, BQ Aquaris M10 FHD, Fairphone 2, Meizu MX4, Meizu PRO 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2013 LTE, Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi, OnePlus One, OnePlus 3/3T, and Sony Xperia X.
