AMD Radeon VII has reached EOL, Could Signal big Navi Launch
French media site Cowcotland has claimed that through its industry sources that AMD’s Radeon VII graphics card has reportedly reached the EOL (End-of-life) status.
This means that AMD is no longer producing Vega based 7nm GPU chip. Radeon VII was launched as stop gap measure (our own interpretation and not confirmed my anyone) purported from AMD instinct GPU to stay relevant in high end GPU market.
Since new Navi based GPU are smaller, has better performance, does not use expensive HBM2 and thus cheaper to produce, it makes sense to discontinue R7 in order to make way for more profit making RDNA based GPU.
