AMD brings Image Sharpening to Polaris
With the latest Adrenalin Driver 19.9.2 released, AMD has backported one feature which was touted with the launch of Navi based Radeon RX 5700 Series GPU.
The said feature is now supported on older graphics cards including Radeon RX 470, RX 570, RX 480, RX 580 and RX 590 on DirectX 12 and Vulkan backend.
What is Radeon Image Sharpening?
Its a post processing effect which result in sharper images in games without taking any performance hit. This can be best used in case temporal aliasing which makes images a bit blurry and where low resolution game is played on high resolution screen. The result will be a bit soft which can be sharpened back with RIS.
