Raja Koduri Hints at June 2020 Launch window of Intels First discrete GPU
What everyone expected when Raja Koduri left AMD for a position in Intel, the launch of first intel’s discrete GPU. For those who don’t know, Intel had announced that they will enter discrete GPU market from consumer-grade GPUs to data center level GPUs.
Till now there was only a vague hint at the launching of GPU in 2020 and people half expected to be delayed. However, recent tweet by Raja Koduri, where he has posted backside of a tesla where the number plate clearly showcases June 2020 as the date and ThinkXE as the number. XE being the name of their discrete GPU effort.
With this, the GPU market will become three way competitive with Red (AMD), Blue (Intel) and Green (Nvidia) team. Intel having huge budget at their disposal and delving into an open initiative with open drivers on Linux, open noise reduction library etc shows their commitment.
