TSMC 7nm+ Shipping, 6nm in process
TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Limited), one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturing company has announced that its 7nm+ fabrication technology which succeeds their 7nm fabrication tech is ready and is shipping to a customer.
The process will use extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUVL). TSMC claims 7nm+ process will provide a 15% to 20% higher transistor density along with 10% lower power consumption.
TSMC has further announced that its 6nm process is also on track and is in the process of being taped out by its customers.
7nm+ will be used by Nvidia for its Next Gen GPU lineup along with AMD for their RDNA 2 based GPU and Ryzen CPUs.
