Watch Buttery Smooth UbuntuTouch on PinePhone
Purism announced that their Linux based mobile project Librem 5 is not dead and has started shipping their first batch. It’s now pine64’s turn to show that they are on track and software is running great on their Linux phone.
It is to be noted that although both Librem and pinephone have similar goals to provide privacy-focused open source based mobiles, the approach is different. Librem has reinvented the wheel and has created almost a fresh software stack including a new UI called phosh. Pine people are porting existing mobile centric OS.
Also Pinephone is using some tried and tested hardware and thus are significantly cheaper at $200.
