Arisen: AMD announces Ryzen 9 3900 and Ryzen 5 3500X for OEMs
AMD has already captured most of the DIY market share with its processors but is unable to crack the OEM market like HP, Dell, etc where intel still dominates.
In order to tackle them, AMD has announced two new CPUs that specifically target its Intel counterparts.
Ryzen 9 3900
This is almost identical to sister CPU Ryzen 9 3900X and offer 12 core 24 thread but has lower TDP of 65W instead of 105W due to lower clock speeds at base 3.1 GHz and boost to 4.3 GHz. This being unlocked CPU can be scaled to 3900X level. This will be available globally.
Ryzen 5 3500X
This CPU competes with Intel’s Core i5-9400F and thus sports identical 6 cores and SMT disable thus limiting it to 6 thread only. This, however, will be available in China only.
