Google releases New Android Automotive Emulator
Google’s Automotive endeavor has started bearing fruit as few manufacturers like Volvo have started using the operating system to use in their vehicles. And with every new platform need its ecosystem. Google is thus rolling out a new Android Automotive Emulator with Play Store for easy app development.
With this emulator, developers don’t have to wait to get their hands on actual vehicles (which might happen in 2020) and can design, develop and run apps inside the emulator. Not to mention the apps can be published via Play Console.
Google also showcased their inhouse apps including YouTube Music support and third party apps like Amazon Music and Audioburst.
What is Android Automotive?
There is fair difference between using Android Auto and Android Automotive. Where Android Auto could run on any operating system used by Auto manufacturers, Android Automotive is a full-fledged operating system which can be used by auto manufacturers to control and manage the vehicle system and entertainment system.
Here is the sample video showcased by Volvo. More announcement can be seen here.
