IBM says Google’s Claim for Quantum Supremacy is False

Google last month announced that it has Quantum Supremacy using its 53Qubits CPU i.e. their Quantum CPU was able to solve problems that classical computers practically cannot.

However, IBM has contradicted the claim by publishing its research papers that Google might have jumped to the conclusions a bit too soon.

Google demonstrated a task which it’s Quantum CPU was able to complete in 200 seconds while the classical computer model using “bits” would take 20000 years to solve.

IBM has presented that google didn’t tap into the full potential of super computers and have demonstrated the same task done on classical computers in 2.5 days. IBM did however used performance enhanced techniques to speed up the process which according to them was not done by Google.

Thus IBM argues that quantum computers might not achieve quantum supremacy as such but may give some advantage which IBM has dubbed as Quantum Advantage.
