Nokia enters the Bandwagon: Launches Smart TV in India

Nokia is a brand that is associated with making phones since 1981. Indian market is now flooded with TV manufacturers and has seen new entrants that have never ventured in this segment like OnePlus and Motorola. Nokia now joins that bandwagon.

Nokia has launched a 55 inch 4K TV smart with Android TV OS and has tied up with e-commerce giant Flipkart (now part of Walmart).

Display

The display is a 55-inch 3,840 x 2,160 4K panel with a 60Hz refresh rate, 400 nits peak brightness, and a 178-degree viewing angle. However, if people were expecting IPS panel on this will be a tad disappointed. This has an ADS panel which is still very similar to IPS panel. The TV also comes with HDR 10 support as well as Dolby Vision. To keep the motion smooth, the TV uses MEMC technology.

Sound

In order to get superior audio output, Nokia has tied up with JBL and The TV comes with JBL soundbar which has an output of 24 Watts. The TV also supports Dolby Audio as well as DTS TruSurround sound.

Software

This smart TV is powered by Android TV OS which is google certified. Since Android 10 has yet to released by google, this TV has android 9 Pie TV OS and have all the usual goodies like Google Assistant integration, Chromecast support, and the Google Play Servies.

Under the Hood

In terms of specifications, the TV has Cortex-A53 quad-core CPU, Mali-450 GPU, 2.25GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 5.0, and Wi-Fi. Connectivity vise, you get three HDMI ports and two standard USB ports.

Price

Price is where Nokia takes the cake. The TV is available at Rs 41,999. However, it still faces stiff competition from Xiaomi  Mi LED TV 4X 55-inch at Rs 34999. The smart television will be available in Flipkart from 10 December.
