MediaTek Announces Game Focused Entry Level SOC, Helios G80
Taiwan based fabless chip design company MediaTek is expanding its game focused SOC and has now announced lower-tier SOC dubbed G80 which are cut down version of G90 and is the sibling of G70.
CPU
The Design again comes in dual cluster structure. The most powerful cluster has 2x Cortex A75 CPU running at 2.0 Ghz.
The second cluster has 6x Cortex A55 clocking at 1.7Ghz. The Chip is manufactured at 12nm.
GPU
The heart of this SOC is the GPU which has ARM Mali-G52 MC2. The clock speed is between 820Ghz. Display Support is limited to FHD+ @ 60Hz. They have the gaming-oriented features, like HyperEngine, which ensures rapid switching between Wi-Fi and LTE to prevent lag spikes or disconnects; Rapid Response Engine, which works to reduce input lag
AI
This being a budget SOC, this has no dedicated hardware for AI computation.
Memory
The SOC supports memory with 1x LPDDR3 @ 933 MHz support or 2x LPDDR4X @ 1800MHz.
ISP
Camera support is limited to 25MP @ 30fps video recording, 16MP+16MP @ 30fps and 48MP 4-cell @ 17fps
The Modem also only supports 4G and no 5G support is present which is limited to Dimensity Models.
