Open Source Smartwatch Announced

Pine64 the makers of open-source friendly PineBook and upcoming open-source friendly PinePhone have further announced PineTime smartwatch.

This smart watch will not be Linux based as per current information but will be based on open source software stack but will be a side project only unlike their PinePhone project.

The Shell housing is indeed from a Chinese smartwatch, The internal are decided by Pine people and most probably it will have Nordic nRF52832 (ARM Cortex-M4 @ 64MHz, with Bluetooth 5, 2.4GHz, ANT, NFC-A). Probably the 512KB flash and 64KB SRAM. For those who were wishing apps on their smartwatch, this configuration may put a dash on their hope.

The smartwatch is however expected to cost $25 give or take.
