AMD & Linux to power Most Powerful CPU only Supercomputer with 7,48,544 Zen 2 Cores
United Kingdom Government has announced that the Cray computers will build the most powerful supercomputer in Europe. The Super COmputer will be called Archer 2 and will be CPU only supercomputer powered by AMD Epyc Rome CPUs.
The Supercomputer will be capable of 28peta FLOPS using 5,848 nodes where each nodes will have 64 cores running at 2.2Ghz. For RAM, nothing less than 1.57PetaByte will do.
Software wise ARCHER2 will feature the Cray’s Linux Environment which will be optimised for AMD’s Rome.
Cray is also set to use AMD to make the world’s fastest Supercomputer with 1.5Exascale level power.
